Juan José Cobo, winner of the 2011 Vuelta a España, has signed with the Movistar team for 2012 Cobo, whose previous team, Geox, was left without a sponsor, signed for two seasons with the team of Eusebio Unzue.
Cobo achieved the greatest success of his career last September by winning the Vuelta after five seasons of good results including victory in the Tour of the Basque Country in 2007, victory in one of the mountain stages of the Vuelta in 2009 and success in the queen stage of the Tour de France 2008. 2012 will be Cobo's ninth season as a professional will mark his return to the team of Eusebio Unzue, with whom he raced in 2010.
"I think the victory in the Tour has changed him mentality and physically. I think that with his arrival and Alejandro (Valverde) we will take a significant leap, especially since the team around them is stronger than last year," said Unzue.
Cobo is readyyfor the new challenge, "I am very pleased that Movistar is one of the best teams in the world and will give me the opportunity to be in the biggest races on the calendar. I am excited and eager to be ready with my new teammates. "
Cobo wil officially be presented by Movistar on January 4 in Madrid during a ceremony that will also feature Alejandro Valverde, who returns to racing this year after serving two-year suspension for involvement in Operation Puerto.
