Organizers for this year's Giro d'Italia announced on Tuesday which four teams will receive wildcards to compete alongside the 18 World Tour teams for the May 5-27 race. Italians Androni Giocattoli, Colnago-Csf Inox of Ireland, British team Farnese Vini and Germans Team NetApp got the nod meaning there will be no place for Italian team Acqua & Sapone, who have instead been given a place in the Tirreno-Adriatico, Milano-Sanremo and Tour of Lombardy races. Non-selection for the Giro is a major set back for the Acqua & Sapone team which has popular Italian riders and former Giro winners Danilo Di Luca and Stefano Garzelli.
