Following several editions held under heavy rains, the 2010
Univest Grand Prix offered the assembled peloton late summer sun and
brilliant conditions for racing. The local community of Souderton,
Pennsylvania once again laid out the red carpet for race organizer John
Eustice's marquee UCI-rated pro/am event. This year, Eustice refined
his race format in search of the perfect hybrid of European road racing
and American criterium excitement by serving up 16 laps of a
challenging, spectator-friendly circuit. The assembled field responded
with exciting racing marked by relentless attacks and counters, tactics
and brute strength. After 82 miles and plenty of lactic acid in the
legs, victory went to young Swedish champion Jonas Ahlstrand in a
furious final sprint up North Main Street, making Team Cykelcity's trip
from Stockholm a successful voyage.
