The Tour de France reached the Pyrénées mountains Thursday with a stage finish in Luz-Ardiden. Olympic champion Samuel Sanchez (Euskaltel-Euskadi) rode clear to the stage victory ahead of Jelle Vanendert (Omega Pharma-Lotto). Fränk Schleck showed his climbing form with late kick to the line, while his brother Andy finished well among the leaders. Alberto Contador revealed another chink in his armor, while Frenchman Thomas Voeckler put in another brilliant performance to hang onto his yellow jersey just as he did in 2004.
