Move Press, the parent company of peloton magazine, is happy to announce the addition of legendary cycling journalist John Wilcockson as Editor-at-Large for that title beginning immediately. With 43 Tours de France under his belt and a lifetime chronicling the exploits of racers as varied as Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault, Greg LeMond, Lance Armstrong and Taylor Phinney, Wilcockson is the most experienced English-speaking cycling journalist in the world. He has been the editor of eight different magazines and his work has appeared in publications as varied as The Times of London, The New York Times and Outside. Wilcockson has penned or co-authored more than 20 books. In addition to his web and print responsibilities for peloton, Wilcockson will publish regular columns for Patrick Brady at Red Kite Prayer and will lead peloton's in-depth coverage of the Tour de France online and in print.

"I feel fortunate that this new door has opened for me at Move Press. After considering several options, I'm truly excited to join this young California company at a key juncture in their development," Wilcockson said. "Publisher Brad Roe has put together a talented group of individuals, and his emphasis on creative writing, film and out-of-the-box photography has given peloton, switchback and 3/GO a unique niche in sports journalism."

"For us to be able to bring on a talent as great as John to cover his 44th Tour de France for peloton, is an honor," said peloton Publisher and Move Press founder Brad Roe.

Run by frequent peloton contributor Patrick Brady, popular cycling site Red Kite Prayer, will also feature John Wilcockson's columns in 2012. "I'm really excited to give John another outlet for his work. Few writers in the English language have the encyclopedic knowledge of cycling John does. I vowed to make RKP a home to great writing and this is a significant step in cementing that reputation. I can't wait to see where John takes us readers," said RKP's founder, Patrick Brady.

Wilcockson was a founding partner, director, publisher, editor and writer at the Boulder, Colo.-based Inside Communications Inc., which at various times published Inside Cycling, VeloNews, Inside Triathlon, VeloBusiness, Ski Racing and associated websites. "I spent 23 enjoyable years with VeloNews and I retain the greatest respect for its editorial team," Wilcockson said. Inside Communications was acquired by Competitor Group Inc. in 2008.
