Amstel Gold Race has a knack for creating gripping racing, and this weekend’s edition was no exception.
Michal Kwiatkowski was in vintage form, looking more like the rider who once won the world championships than the super-domestique he has formed into in recent years as he snagged another win here, by the slimmest of margins. And his Ineos team finally looked dominant for the first time this season, even as the result, just as last year, came down to a photo finish. On the women’s side, Marta Cavalli won in style with some brilliant judgement and a decisive move for a win that was much easier to determine.
Aérogramme hosts OJ Borg, Peter Cossins and Jeremy Whittle break it all down and catch us up on what happened in the world of cycling this weekend, from the first Ardennes classic, Amstel Gold Race, to the Tour of the Basque Country.
Then we look ahead. Paris-Roubaix, delayed a week this year, is next on the calendar. What can we expect from the Hell of the North this year? Who will benefit from the slightly altered calendar, and whose spring form will be on the back foot?
But as always, things deviate slightly from the action at hand to a few less thought about details in cycling, like which race has the best prizes in cycling. There are certainly some well known trophies in cycling, but the prizes for first place can go well beyond some hardware and cash.

Listen to this week’s episode for all the details.
