It’s July, and that can mean only one thing: cyclocross is right around the corner. It’s never too early to start thinking about equipment for the upcoming season. And now Giant has another bike to throw into the mix for consideration: an all-new version of the TCX Advanced Pro.
This latest update—the first in five years—to Giant’s compact cyclocross frame, drops 200 grams over the previous version, bringing the total weight down to 850 grams. Weighing in at 400 grams, the all-new fork drops a further 60 grams over its predecessor, without losing any stiffness. That weight savings should hopefully translate into faster times, especially uphill. And Giant says tweaks to the frame, including asymmetrical chain stays, result in a more responsive ride.
And importantly, for the times you still can’t quite get up that steep climb, the new frame is easier to hoist over a shoulder (it is a ‘cross bike after all).
For an added touch of versatility, the seat tube and seat post collar have been redesigned, allowing use of both the D-Fuse SLR seat post that comes standard with the frame (which is 20 percent more compliant than the previous D-Fuse post), and a standard round 30.9 seat post. This means the bike can accommodate a dropper post.
Now accommodating up to 45mm tires, the TCX Advanced has more than enough clearance for riding off-road, and comes with tires already set up tubeless.
There will be three models available:
- The TCX Advanced Pro 0 with SRAM Force eTap AXS (38T/ 10-33T cassette) for $5,000
- The TCX Advanced Pro 1 with Shimano GRX with (40T/ 11-34T cassette) for $3,500
- And the TCX Advanced Pro 2 with SRAM Apex (40T/ 11-36T cassette) for $2,500.
Framesets are available for $2,000. Each frame is available in six sizes: XS, S, M, M/L, L, XL.
