EF Pro Cycling may not have won the Giro d’Italia this past October, but the team certainly won the attention of fans and media outlets alike for its collaboration on kits and bikes with skateboard clothing brand Palace, releasing a duck-adorned design unlike anything pro cycling has ever seen. (The team also picked up a pair of stage wins—we’ll call it a very successful Giro all around). And while those Rapha + Palace collaboration kits were briefly available to buy—emphasis on briefly as they sold out before anyone outside of the Rapha Cycling Club had a chance to buy them, and they can now only be found on resale sites marked up obscene amounts—the Cannondale + Palace bikes the EF team rode are even more exclusive, with the design not available to the public. Until now, and for a good cause.
To support new co-ed cycling programs at historically black colleges and universities, and tribal colleges and universities, Cannondale Bicycles and EF Pro Cycling have donated two Rapha + Palace + Cannondale bikes ridden by EF Pro Cycling at the 2020 Giro d’ Italia to USA Cycling to be auctioned off.
The auction is part of a three-year commitment by Cannondale and EF Pro Cycling to work with USA Cycling to start and support HBCU and TCU cycling programs to improve access and equity in cycling. Additionally, Cannondale and EF Pro Cycling are also starting mentorship programs to provide students in-roads into the cycling industry and access to future careers.
For every $20 you donate to the new HBCU and TCU programs, you get one entry to win one of the two bikes. Donate $40 and you get two entries, and so on. Note that the bikes are race-used and are limited to the sizes and condition of the bikes that were actually raced in the Giro d’Italia.
Oh, and there’s more. Those super exclusive Rapha + Palace jerseys we mentioned earlier? The winners will receive one of those too in the prize package, along with a POC Giro d’Italia special edition helmet and sunglasses and a USA Cycling Family Membership.
Donations eligible to win a prize package will be accepted December 15 to December 23, 2020, with a winner randomly selected on December 23, 2020. All are welcome to donate, but please note that only residents of the United States are eligible to win a prize package.
