Road riders likely know 100% for sunglasses—they’re hard to miss on the faces of prominent pro cyclists like Peter Sagan (especially when he shows up on podiums with the brand’s goggles strapped around his neck). But outside of road cycling the brand is also well known for motocross and mountain biking protective equipment, including helmets. With the Altis Gravel, 100% has branched into gravel riding and does so at a reasonable price point. This lightweight helmet retails for just $100 and gets 14 vents for excellent airflow on hot gravel courses. But the thing that has us most excited for the Altis Gravel is its safety chops. The brand’s proprietary Smartshock Rotational Protective System protects against rotational impact forces much in the same way as MIPS and similar technologies, adding another level of safety beyond the high-density EPS foam molded with polycarbonate.
