Bianchi Reveals GreenEDGE Cycling Race Bikes for 2021 Season

The new paint scheme features a slight departure for the iconic Bianchi celeste color

For the 2021 season, the UCI WorldTour team GreenEDGE Cycling will be on some eye-catching new Bianchi bikes. The bikes are a slight departure from the ones ridden in 2020 by Jumbo-Visma, which featured the brand’s iconic celeste paint color on the entire frame (although sometimes the team rode a lighter version with black paint and celeste accents). Instead, for this new partnership, celeste features less heavily and is joined by a new color, turquoise-celeste, which Bianchi says “adds an element of modernity” to the bikes. The colors flow diagonally from one to another throughout the frame. And about half of the new paint scheme is carbon black, which Bianchi says is “emblematic of the company’s approach to innovation and marginal gains.”

The down tube logo appears larger than last season’s Jumbo-Visma branded bikes, although the bikes look cleaner overall thanks to the removal of a seat tube logo and the shrinking of the bike model names on the top tube. One other change is the addition of a new Reparto Corse logo on the seat post and fork, which signifies the brand’s racing division which dates to the days of Fausto Coppi.

“The new look has been devised in close partnership between Bianchi and GreenEDGE, helping to bring together our aligned communication aims, by treating the bicycle and rider as a single integrated entity,” said Bianchi marketing and communication manager Claudio Masnata in a press release. We’re hoping that means GreenEDGE will be wearing a kit that complements this new paint scheme, unlike the yellow jerseys Jumbo-Visma wore that clashed with the celeste color.

GreenEDGE Cycling will have three bike models at their disposal for 2021: the Oltre XR4 disc, the new Specialissima disc and the Aquila time trial bike. The Oltre XR4 aero bike returns to the WorldTour notably as a disc version as opposed to the rim-brake version often used this past season. The heavier disc aero bike option is likely because the team also has access to the brand new Specialissima disc, which features a feathery 750-gram frame, making it the ideal choice for climbing days when weight is a foremost concern.

The recently released Bianchi Specialissima will be a go-to option on climbing days thanks to its 750-gram frame weight.

The bikes will be outfitted with Shimano Dura-Ace Di2, Shimano C40 and C60 disc wheelsets, Reparto Corse cockpits made by Vision/FSA, Pirelli P Zero tires, fizik saddles, Tacx bottle cages and Garmin computers.

We’re liking this new paint scheme and can’t wait to see it in action in 2021.
