Something exciting is happening with in-house wheel brands. While they once existed primarily for major frame makers to save money on full builds, lately they have been leading the way in wheel design, becoming brands riders seek out. Part of Giant, CADEX is a newcomer on the scene, but its wheels are already turning heads. The 42 Disc brings a weight that would have been unheard of just a few years ago for a non-tubular wheel of this depth: just 1,327 grams for a 42mm-deep disc wheelset. The hookless, tubeless rims have a precise carbon layup to keep material to the absolute minimum. But it’s more than just a light all-around wheelset. A customtuned lacing pattern ensures a stiff ride, while the aero spokes keep things steady in shifting wind conditions. Not many other two-year-old brands can boast such advanced products.
