Fabric ALM Ultimate Saddle uses Additive Manufacturing pioneered in Aerospace
What is better than a saddle that you don’t even notice is there? Well, from the perspective of a tester that spends upwards of 20 hours a week riding, racing and commuting – absolutely nothing. From our first ride to the last (heck, we’re still riding the thing), the Fabric ALM Saddle is one of the most comfortable rear-end perches we’ve ever straddled.

Fabric aimed to push the boundaries of saddle design and they did just that with the ALM Ultimate. Delivering a simple, yet beautiful one-piece saddle that performs at the highest level while providing maximum comfort under all riding conditions. They worked closely with engineers from the Airbus Group Innovation (yes, the same company that designs airplanes) and utilizing an Additive Layer Manufacturing technique, were able to create a monocoque saddle, arguably the lightest in its class at 140 grams. The partnership with Airbus allowed Fabric access to technologies and materials not common to the cycling components industry. Aerospace design technology is so cutting edge that the resulting product seems to be ahead of its time.
No comfort is compromised with this ultra-lightweight saddle. The flexible carbon base and carbon rails of the ALM work together and are laid in a unique way that allows the whole system to act as a leaf spring. Bumps on the road are dispersed and the ride imitates a floating sensation over even the roughest of tarmac sections. The entire package is extremely strong, yet comfortable for the rider at all times.
The balance of comfort and weight is always a tricky dance that isn’t easily achieved. We say our behind never lies, and although there are other factors to include such as chamois technology, bike fit and hundreds of variables – our rear end has never been happier since boarding this spaceship of saddles. The #PelotonServiceCourse believes Fabric has created a truly top-notch saddle that delivers both performance and comfort at a respectable price for a high-end seat.
