After entering the bicycle road tire market a couple years ago, Goodyear is now expanding its line to include tubeless versions of its Ultra-High Performance line, as well a brand new all-season tire.

PELOTON

Tubeless compatibility comes to the brand’s all-around road racing tire, the Eagle F1, as well its fastest tire, the Eagle F1 SuperSport. Both tires feature a layer of R:Shield puncture resistant material under the tread. The new Vector 4Seasons is a tubeless tire that builds on Goodyear’s range to offer high performance across a wider range of conditions as well as bead to bead puncture protection from R:Armor Fabric. Presumably it is the tire you would reach for when it starts to rain or you intend to ride on rougher tarmac.

Goodyear says its tubeless tires are a step above traditional tubeless-ready tires thanks to something called Tubeless Complete, a layer of multi-compound material added to the tire casing which improves air retention and enhances puncture protection.

In addition to tubeless compatibility, the updated tires also feature a couple new technologies: Dual Angle Bead and Forward Facing Fitment. Dual Angle Bead provides a better seal against the rim bed when the tire is set up tubeless, and helps retain air in the tire. And because rims are getting wider, Forward Facing Fitment helps maintain the correct casing shape and positioning of the tread for optimal performance with modern rims—that is, more speed and comfort.

The brand is also launching a value-oriented line called the High Performance Road collection, which is launching with the Eagle Sport, a $30 tube type clincher tire. With a focus on durability and grip in multiple conditions, this tire could be great for training or the rider on a budget.

The Eagle F1 weighs in at a claimed 275 grams for the Tubeless Complete version (size 25mm) and is available as a tube type tire in sizes 23mm, 25mm, 28mm, 30mm and 32mm and Tubeless Complete versions in sizes 25mm-32mm. The Tube type tires cost $60-$65 depending on size, and the Tubeless Complete versions cost $65-$70 depending on size.

The Eagle F1 SuperSport weighs 245 grams in a 25mm Tubeless complete version. It is available in sizes 23mm,25mm and 28mm for tube type version and 25mm and 28mm for the Tubeless Complete version. Tube type versions cost $60, and Tubeless Complete versions cost $65.

The Vector 4Seasons comes in 25mm-32mm in both tube type and Tubeless Complete versions and costs $60-$65 for tube type versions depending on size, and $65-$70 for Tubeless Complete versions depending on size.

The Eagle F1 SuperSport comes in sizes 23mm, 25mm and 28mm for $30.
