When it comes to bike tools, you don’t need a pro bike shop’s worth filling your garage to keep your bike in top top shape. Just a few essential tools can handle most problems. Now PRO has updated and expanded its lineup of tools and pumps, offering better ergonomics and durability for some of the most essential tools a home mechanic might need.
Leading the new lineup are two torque wrenches. Measuring torque from 1Nm to 20Nm with an easy to read LCD display, the Team Digital Torque Wrench makes getting the right torque applied to any bolt simple. It offers both visual feedback, through the display, as well as auditory, providing one sound when you’re approaching the desired torque, and another once it’s reached. Nine included bits should be good for just about any bolt, and the 20Nm torque range will cover most any repair on your bike, shy of tightening a bottom bracket. At $250, it is pricey, but a good torque wrench will save your far more expensive carbon components.
If $250 is too steep, PRO also has a Mini Torque Wrench for $65 which features 4Nm, 5Nm and 6Nm torque settings, overing the most common torque settings. This compact tool, measuring just 3.5 inches, comes with six bits that store magnetically in the handle.
The new Team Floor Pump features a dual gauge optimized both for high-volume tires—gravel and mountain bike—as well as high pressure tires (road and track). The first 40 psi cover the first half of the gauge and feature a reading for every 2.5 psi, helping dial in lower pressures with more precision. The next half of the dial, covering 40 psi to 140 psi, features markings every 10 psi. This $115 pump features an alloy body and a universal head for Presta and Schrader valves. For $100, PRO also offers its Team Floor Pump with a digital gauge with accuracy of two percent, as well as an ergonomic handle.
Riders looking for a more economical solution can look at the $40 Competition Floor Pump, which features a larger hose that provides 12 percent more volume for faster inflation.
Customizable Three-Way Wrench and More
Featuring 13 replaceable tool bit options, the $40 Team Delta Wrench brings more convenience to the popular three-way or “Y” wrench design, which traditionally features three fixed bits. Now you can swap in exactly the three hardened-steel bits you need into this alloy body and quickly perform any fix.
Other new tools include a $35 cassette wrench compatible with 10 and 11 tooth cogs for $35, a design which we prefer to traditional chain whips; Two new chain tools for 1-9 speed chains ($25) or 9-12 speed chains ($30); a fine adjustment screwdriver set featuring four screwdrivers—2mm hex, Torx T10, SL4 flat, and PH2 phillips heads—made for hard to reach bolts; and two multi tools, one with six tools (3/4/5/6 hex, PH2, flat screwdriver) for $12, and one with 10 tools (2/2.5/3/4/5/6/8 hex, T25, PH2, flat screwdriver) for $15.
