It was another busy week here at the Peloton Service Course. We launched issue 57 of Peloton, our tech issue, as well as the third installment of our adventures in Santa Barbara with our Küat Sherpa 2.0. We also brought you an in depth look at the Focus Izalco Max Romain Bardet and the rest of AG2R-La Mondiale team raced at Le Tour as well as the latest gear on test here at the Peloton Service Course.

Preview Issue 57 of Peloton, the tech issue.

Preview issue 57 of peloton and you’ll find a mammoth Tech guide, over 30 pages of the latest gear, broken down into the kind of riding that inspires us, from climbing to gravel grinding. We show you what to ride, where to ride it and offer a few tips of our own for success in your chosen discipline. We start it all with a visit back to Le Tour for some stories only peloton could find. Factory visits are up next to meet the first lady of the saddle and we travel to Kenda’s factory for a lesson on rubber. We learn about the history of the ‘white bike’, from an in ill-fated young man’s first custom to BMC’s 2016 Tour rides. Read about the man that makes custom racks for World Tour teams, and the writing of Rene de Latour, the ultimate pro cycling insider. Whiskey’s comeback in Ireland, its birth place is chronicled as is ultimate tech for enjoying beer.

Küat X Santa Barbara: The Backcountry
KuatPartIII_hero
Santa Barbara County is truly a cycling paradise. The ocean keeps the climate mild all year long, so it’s ideal for long rides and pushing limits. The terrain is varied, offering everything from foothill rollers and steep switchback climbs to long, flat miles along the coast. It’s called the “corridor” and it runs from Goleta in the north, through Santa Barbara, to Carpinteria in the south. The itch to ride outside this bubble of perfection—“beyond the corridor” as the locals say—hit us when as we spied the backcountry from the summit of Gibraltar Road laid out like a fresh canvas for our tires.

Romain Bardet’s Focus Izalco Max Tour Bike

At the 2016 Tour de France we got up close and personal with AG2R La Mondiale’s Romain Bardet and his Focus Izalco Max. After his epic solo win on stage 19 and his second place finish overall the Peloton Service Course needed a closer look at his ride.

Goods from the Peloton Service Course

At the Peloton Service Course we’re currently riding a new wind vest from Donkey Label, Peter Sagan’s Look KEO Blade 2 pedals and the Suomy Gun Wind Helmet. Donkey Label seeks improvement through simplification and fit, Suomy brings the helmet we’ve seen on Lampre-Merida riders to the states and LOOK wants Peter Sagan to inspire a few more watts from our legs.
