Giro Regime

Cycling shoe prices can accelerate quickly, some reaching well past $400. But much of the performance found in those cutting-edge shoes can be had for far less. The Giro Regime is one such shoe. Despite costing about half as much as Giro’s premier road shoe, the Imperial, the $225 Regime offers a super-light and breathable Synchwire upper that fits as close as a second skin. Thermal-welded TPU adds structural support and durability while dual Boa L6 dials provide a secure fit with even pressure. And below the upper, an advanced carbon-composite sole puts all your power to use while balancing low weight and durability. This might be the best tradeoff between performance and price in Giro’s line.

SCOTT Centric Plus

Oftentimes, brands that make highend bikes get overlooked when it comes to other gear, like helmets. But, packing great design and features into a $200 price point, the SCOTT Centric Plus helmet deserves a closer look. This lightweight helmet uses polycarbonate in-mold construction to fuse the outer shell with the helmet’s inner liner, while incorporating the latest MIPS protection. The result is a package that tips the scales at a scant 220 grams. But beyond being light, the Centric Plus delivers cooling airflow inside the helmet while being as aerodynamic as possible on the outside—as requested by SCOTT’s sponsored road riders. But because everyone can benefit from aerodynamics and good ventilation, this helmet is made for both road riding and mountain biking, so go ahead and use it wherever you like to ride.
