The Cannondale Pro Cycling team will be on the road for the first time on January 19 to attend the People’s Choice Classic in Australia. The 50 km criterium is a prologue event to the Tour Down Under, the first event of the UCI WorldTour taking place from January 21 to 26. Elia Viviani will be the leader of the team and will ride with home-rider Cameron Wurf, Kiwi George Bennett, Canadian Guillaume Boivin, Austrian Matthias Krizek and two neo-professionals Slovenian Matej Mohoric and Italian Alberto Bettiol. Biagio Conte will be the team director.
On the same day, another group from the Cannondale team will be ready in Argentina for the seven stage of Tour de San Luis. Peter Sagan will be making the same debut he made in 2013, while this will be the first time Moreno Moser, Damiano Caruso and Alessandro De Marchi will race in South America. Oscar Gatto and Marco Marcato will be in attendance as well both sporting the green jersey. Team director Stefano Zanatta will be present at the Tour de San Luis to take charge and lead the team.
Two team riders will officially kick-off their season a few days earlier on January 12. George Bennett will attend the 184 km of the New Zealand Road Championship in Christchurch (in 2013 the Kiwi rider placed 2nd) while Cameron Wurf the 183 km of the Australian Road Championship in Buninyong.
