Germany’s John Degenkolb of the Giant team won the Gent-Wevelgem spring classic race on Sunday, heaping praise on his teammates for reeling in three peloton escapees. Degenkolb timed 5:34:43 over the 233km ride to finish ahead of Frenchman Arnaud Demare and Slovakia’s defending champion Peter Sagan.
